Terms & Conditions
The rules for using this site, and the limits of what we promise.
These terms govern your use of thankyounotes.store (the “Site”), operated by ScholarBrief (“we”, “us”). By using the Site you accept them. If you do not accept them, please stop using the Site.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. Where you deal with us as a consumer, these terms do not affect your statutory rights.
1. What ScholarBrief is
The Site is an information publication. It publishes general educational information about scholarships, grants, university applications, study abroad, student finance and academic study.
The Site is not: an education agent or admissions consultancy; an immigration adviser; a financial adviser; a careers adviser; a scholarship provider; a recruitment service; or an agent, representative or partner of any university, government department, examination board or scholarship provider named on it. We cannot apply on your behalf, review your documents, contact an institution for you, influence any decision, or guarantee any outcome. See the disclaimer.
2. Permitted use
You may read, print and share pages from the Site for your own personal, non-commercial use, and link to any page on it. You may quote short extracts with attribution to ScholarBrief and a link to the source page.
You may not:
- Republish substantial parts of the Site, in any medium, without our written permission.
- Scrape, harvest or systematically download content, including for the purpose of training a machine learning model, without our written permission.
- Present our content as your own, or remove attribution, dates or verification notices from it.
- Use the Site or our name in a way that suggests endorsement, affiliation or partnership that does not exist.
- Use the Site to solicit students, advertise services, or distribute material relating to scholarship or admissions fraud.
- Attempt to interfere with the Site’s operation or security, or place unreasonable load on it through automated requests.
Ordinary crawling by search engines in accordance with our robots.txt is welcome.
3. Accuracy, and the limits of it
We take accuracy seriously and describe our methods in the editorial policy. Even so, the Site is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We make no warranty that content is complete, current or error-free.
This matters most in one specific way. Scholarship rules, deadlines, award values, eligibility criteria, visa requirements, fee levels and financial aid formulas change frequently and without notice. That is precisely why this Site does not publish those figures as standalone facts and instead links to the provider. The official source always overrides anything written here. You are responsible for verifying current requirements with the relevant provider or authority before acting.
4. No advice relationship
Reading the Site does not create an adviser–client, agent–principal or professional relationship of any kind, and nothing on it constitutes financial, legal, immigration, tax, medical or personalised educational advice. Content does not take account of your circumstances. Where a decision matters to you, take advice from a qualified professional in the relevant jurisdiction — and for immigration, from an adviser authorised to give it in the country concerned.
5. External links
The Site links to third-party websites, principally official providers and government sources. Those sites are not under our control. We do not endorse them, we are not responsible for their content, availability, accuracy or practices, and your use of them is governed by their terms and privacy policies. A link is a pointer, not a recommendation of anything beyond the specific information referenced.
6. Intellectual property
All original text, structure, code and design on the Site is owned by ScholarBrief and protected by copyright. The ScholarBrief name and logo are our marks.
Names, marks and logos of universities, government bodies and scholarship programmes referred to on the Site belong to their respective owners. They are used descriptively, to identify the organisation or programme being discussed, under nominative fair use. Their appearance does not imply any affiliation with or endorsement by those organisations.
If you believe content on the Site infringes your copyright, email editor@thankyounotes.store with the subject LEGAL, identifying the work, the URL, and your contact details, with a statement that you are the rights holder or authorised to act for them. We respond to properly formed notices promptly.
7. Advertising and commercial content
The Site is funded by advertising. Advertisements are supplied by third-party networks and are labelled and visually separated from editorial content. We do not control which specific advertisements are shown, and their appearance is not an endorsement. Any dealings you have with an advertiser are between you and them.
We do not sell editorial coverage, position or links. If we ever publish sponsored or affiliate content, it will be labelled as such at the top of the page before you read it. See the editorial policy.
8. Availability
We do not guarantee that the Site will be available uninterrupted or error-free. We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of it, including retiring pages, without notice. We retire scholarship profiles when a scheme closes or when we can no longer verify it, because leaving a stale programme page published is worse than removing it.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or reliance on, the Site or anything linked from it. This includes, without limitation: a missed application deadline; an application that is unsuccessful or found ineligible; a refused visa; a financial loss; reliance on a figure, date or rule that has changed; or the acts of any third party, including any scholarship provider, institution, agent or advertiser.
Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the greater of the amount you have paid us (which for reading this Site is zero) or the minimum sum permitted by applicable law.
10. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify us against claims arising from your breach of these terms or your misuse of the Site, including unauthorised republication of content.
11. Privacy
Our handling of personal data is described in the privacy policy and the cookie policy, which form part of these terms.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top of the page shows when they last changed, and continued use after a change means you accept the revised terms. Material changes will be noted in the change log below.
13. Governing law
These terms and any dispute arising from them are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer law in your country of residence, or of the right to bring proceedings there where that right cannot be excluded.
14. General
If any provision of these terms is held unenforceable, the remainder continues in force. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. These terms, with the privacy, cookie, editorial, corrections and disclaimer pages, are the entire agreement between us regarding the Site.
